MIAMI \u2013\u2013 Immigration and Customs Enforcement deported a record number of illegal migrants in Septemeber, President Trump\u2019s border czar Tom Homan boasted Thursday \u2013\u2013 as he warned New York to cooperate with its agents.<\/p>\n

Homan<\/a> made the revelation while visting the Port of Miami to tout the Trump administration\u2019s border security efforts, which he credited with helping drive down crime across the US. <\/p>\n

The veteran immigration<\/a> official, standing alongside US Customs and Borders Commissioner Rodney S. Scott, said ICE broke its record for arrests every month between June and August this year. <\/p>\n

Then in September, ICE reportedly deported more illegal migrants than in any other month in the agency\u2019s history. <\/p>\n

\u201cThis is what American people voted for and this is what they\u2019re getting, a safer America,\u201d Homan said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHundreds of thousands of criminal aliens have been removed from this country, which makes your neighborhood safer, which is part of the reason that crime rates are at an all time low,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Asked if he could provide the ICE numbers for fiscal year 2026, Homan said they were still being validated and would be released \u201csoon\u201d by the White House.<\/p>\n

He also sent a message to New York after Gov. Kathy Hochul signed a new state law earlier this year banning local police departments<\/a> from working with ICE.<\/p>\n

Homan said cooperation between ICE and local authorities in other parts of the country had meant federal officers were able to arrest illegal immigrants while they are in jail.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was hoping places like New York and Chicago would follow that model \u2013 work with us, let us arrest the bad guy in the safety and security of the jail.<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause if you don\u2019t, we\u2019re going to do our job, which means we\u2019re going to the neighborhood, and we\u2019ll find the bad guy, and many times they\u2019re with others \u2013\u2013 if they\u2019re in the country illegally, they\u2019re coming too, even if they\u2019re not the target of that operation, they\u2019re coming.\u201d<\/p>\n

Homan also addressed a massive Department of Homeland Security (DHS) data breach on Wednesday by leak website Distributed Denial of Secrets, which published a database of more than 40,000 DHS employees.<\/p>\n

Asked about the leak, he said that the Justice Department was investigating but added that ICE officers were already facing increasing threats and assaults.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want the American people to know that ICE agents are mothers and fathers, too,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey have families, too. They don\u2019t hang their heart on a hook when they come into work. They got a difficult job, a dangerous job.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Scott, the CBP commissioner, told the press conference that under President Trump<\/a>, \u201cAmerica has worked to achieve the most secure border in our history.\u201d<\/p>\n
