Former CNN star Paula Reid has landed a new gig<\/a> as MS NOW\u2019s chief White House reporter after walking away from her previous employer amid concerns about its future under new corporate parent Skydance, according to a report.<\/p>\n

Reid, who previously served as chief legal affairs correspondent at CNN, begins her new gig at the Versant-owned MS NOW on Thursday, TheWrap reported, citing an internal memo from the cable channel\u2019s Washington bureau chief Sudeep Reddy.<\/p>\n

\u201cPaula will bring her deep experience to covering the administration, serve as a key reporting voice across MS NOW\u2019s Washington Bureau, and help drive our newsroom\u2019s investigative and enterprise journalism,\u201d Reddy wrote.<\/p>\n

Reid\u2019s departure from CNN was first reported over the summer by the Status newsletter<\/a>, which said she turned down a generous contract renewal offer after privately expressing concerns about Paramount\u2019s acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery<\/a> and the possibility that CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss could eventually oversee CNN.<\/p>\n

Skydance CEO David Ellison has asked CNN chief Mark Thompson to remain at the helm<\/a> following the company\u2019s acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, according to the Wall Street Journal.<\/p>\n

The New York Times subsequently reported<\/a> that Ellison wants Thompson to stay for at least another year<\/a>, while Weiss is not expected to have editorial or operational oversight of CNN for the time being.<\/p>\n

Variety subsequently reported that Reid was expected to join MS NOW.<\/p>\n

The veteran journalist joined CNN in 2021 after more than a decade at CBS News, where she covered the Justice Department and White House. She was promoted to CNN\u2019s chief legal affairs correspondent in 2023.<\/p>\n

Her hiring comes as MS NOW, which was formerly known as MSNBC, expands its independent Washington bureau following its separation from NBC News.<\/p>\n
